School me on solar panels

Thinking of getting solar panels to charge a deep cycle battery which runs the engel.

Generally I'd take a generator but we are going away at Easter - no genies allowed.

What would be the minimun watts to charge a deep cycle battery? What would be the preferred watts for a panel/s.

you should look up auto electrical on the board index.
some pretty good info already covered, and some guys in the business, auto lecky or better still, people who own businesses that sell what YOU NEED, without the CRAP. you will hear from better than in general tech.

Been thinking about doing this myself as the price of panels has come right down.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/120w-2-60W-1 ... 070wt_1037

120W panel for under $300. Just need to get the charger/regulator.

Anyone use these?

I have a 120ah deep hour battery on my camper to run a 50L waeco. I have an 80watt pannel to charge it which I bought from 'solar steve'. I think as well as the pannel you need to look at the controller as from what I read a few years ago when I bought mine is that is what makes the differance. If you have a look on a few of the camper trailer forums you will find a load of info on standalone systems

Cheers
