hey guys. in the last couple of months i have been up the beach a couple of times and noticed that when i get into the soft sand and have to start giving the 4.2 more power it starts to overheat. i have to slow down to let it cool down a bit while everybody else halls ass past me and just dosnt seem right. I was just wondering if this is common or is there something that needs looking at?
cheers
ethan

Overheating is pretty common on the 4.2 engines.
Check your cooling system first. How blocked is your radiator?
There are heaps of mods to help fix the issue but starting with the cooling system is the first step.

check your cooling system as mentioned.
Use more revs and less accelerator. Dont labour the motor in too higher gear.

Good idea. You will be supprised how much of the radiator you cant get to with it still in the car.

First thing it should have a clutch fan still unless you've put elecy fans on , but mine was runnin warmer than usual just drivin too work and noticed it was runnin extremley hot when i towed my car too the drags and was baffled not blocked rad and no cooloant leaks thought thermostate changed that with new hoses and still no go then talkin too a mechanic mate and he said 100 bucks its your clutch fan he said its prob out of oil, he said too get 2 vials of toyota (yuck toyota lol ) clutch fan oil and it should fix so idid that and wallah she roared into life you can tell the difference when they are workin too full capacity so my advice check your fan mate its an easy and not that dear too fix with the oil from toyota think its like $10-$15 a vial hopefully that helps ya mate post it up when ya fix it
