A mate of mine has just bought a 4.2 Turbo GU and cant find a Turbo timer that will work in it. The timer will only run for a short time(20-30sec) then it just cuts out. He has now been told that it is not possible to install a Turbo Timer on a Turbo GU as it effects one of the computers and shuts the vehicle down.
Has anyone had this problem? Or does anyone know a brand of Timer that will work?

i heard something about this broblem a while ago, the person was saying that you have to get a genuine nissan turbo timer as it will interact with the computers and allow things to function normallly,
What brand of timer does he have?
i have used the boguard(i think) timer on the old mans RD28t GUand it was a straight forward plug in.

Seen Bogard on 4.2's also. 2 models sold one for leaf cab chassis and one for the rest.
What computers on 4.2?

This is exactly what it does. He hasnt actually bought one yet but had one fitted and it did this so got them to remove it again.

ARB list a turbo timer for GU 4.2 , they have a seperate unit for those with and WITHOUT a sub tank.
724GU lwb & cc With fctry sub tank
724NIS cc utes without sub tank
both are $199

(925GU) LWB models & C/C with factory sub tank - Y61 with 6 pin Connector - $209.00
(925NIS) C/C Models without factory subtank - Y60 with 5 pin Connector
- $209.00
Fitting $64.00,
Total $273.00
My guess is to tell the ARB dealer that "a mate got it for $250.00 from you guys and I want the same price",
good tactics [=
Thanks,

One of my friends has suggested me one thing. I need to search online when I’ve got a problem on my GU turbo timer. Probably, this would help you—xxx.exploroz.com/Forum/Topic/.../Turbo_Timer_for_GU_II.aspx.

Why not just run an EGT guage instead. You'd be surprised how few times you actually need to idle down a diesel.
