gday all just wondering what peoples thoughts, experience, advice is on a problem with the auto in a 1fz-fe 80 series.93 model

drives fine, changes gears fine, except in lowrange seems to take forever to select the next cog
uphill seems fine, will pull D or o/d fine HOWEVER if you put your foot down to drop from O/D to D or at slower hills D to 2 it starts to drop back then slips as such and free revs to 5 grand plus if you dont lift your foot.as soon as you lift your foot it will drop to the gear you were after.
Or if your in O/D and select manually back to D at the same speeds, hill etc it drops back fine and keeps powering on

just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this??

It's normal. Low range has it's own shift pattern, and it will only shift when above a certain rpm in any gear. It stops the trans shifting up gears when you are off or light on the throttle as is the normal behaviour in high range, and most all automatics in general.

You can get around it by unplugging the low range switch on the transfer. That will stop the centre diff from locking as well as the low range pattern being selected. You can then still hold gears with the shifter.
