Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey dudes,

So I serviced the cruiser today (1992 80 Series with 1HZ), I had oil & fuel filters pre-purchased from Repco.. Oil was no worries, I get the 1HZ fuel filter and it is different to the one on my car. The Ryco and Repco branded fuel filters have a big probably 20 cent coin sized hole on the bottom (I assume this is where you attach the water seperating glass bowl).

Anyway, below are the pics of the fuel filter currently in the car. You can see in the first pic the hole at the bottom is only a very small one which the white piece of plastic attaches.

Is this a factory filter? If all else fails I might have to go to the local toyota dealership and ask them...

thats not factory filter.
factory filters are a silvery gold with the part number written on them. like the repco one have the large holde in the bottom for the water trap.
id say unless u can find that filter you'll have to hit up toyota or a wreckers for the bottom piece so u can go back to genuine

this one looks sort of similar and appears to come with the plastic thing on the bottom

The standard also has wiring to accomodate the water alert light. Standard as you say is about 20c size at the bottom and is equivelant to z 252 or z 252 x (not as tall).

For a straight swap take yours back to to change over at repco (depends on skills of counter jockey in finding yours) or try a truck or agriculturaql shop that will try or get bottom water detection piece from wrecker and use origional style brand of your choice.

Who knows what previous owners have done or changed, the joy of preloved cars!!

Just grab one of these. Filters are cheap and can get them anywhere, plus you can see if any water is on glass bowl

Stick with the Delphi 296 filter and you wont have any problems. I have been running one of these for years on the GQ
Best to stick with vehicle manufacturers one on common rail gear though
