Hilux cv upgrade

Hi all I have a hilux ln106 2.8turbo and have 33's fitted and I am now on my 3rd cv I have broken.
I am upgrading to 35's as soon as I get some cash and I know the cv's won't like them.

My question is I can get 1 pair of chromoly cv's with std axles (27sp) for $750
Or I can get chromo cv's AND 30spline axles for $1200

Is spending the extra $400 odd dollars worth it just to fit 2" bigger tire cause I have no problem with the axle it's the cv I keep breaking?

Cheers..smiley..

Not 100% on an answer for you Smiley. But, the way we build these things, it goes like this.......
modify,
break the weakest part,
upgrade the weakest part,
break the next weakest part.

For the extra couple hunjy, Id be getting chromo CVs, as well as the axles.
That way, you know you have the strongest bits in there that you can get.

Or for $800 you can buy my full set of 30spline longfields that have never been used and are still in the box? Just another option ;)

Thanks for the help guys I had a look on that locktup 4x4 website and they do pretty good deals.
Superior engineering want $1200 for a set of longs and locktup can do them for 800.

pretty stoked with that I will definitely buying a set through them and like mr dj said do it properly once and forget about it.

And sorry debeverett would prefer to go through a company sorry mate.

I also run track assasin cv's n axles in 30 spline with the longfield cromo hub gears and have had not problems on 35's, they are rated to 37's regardless of engine type/ size.

I even broke a cromo rear axle and my front track assasins are all good.

Having said that longfields have a better warranty and are stronger...

I run a 3.0L TD as well

I run the Dirty 30's and love 'em, I have run the Longs in the past and broke them then I ran Haultec CV's with Longs axles (27 spline) .
The Haultec CV's & Longfield axles lasted 8 years of abuse so I rekon I got my money out of them  .
I got the Trail gear Dirty 30's a couple of months ago from Locktup for $800

Why?
Longs have a lifetime warranty no matter how you get possession!
You should price up going direct thru longfield.
Seen a fair few dirty 30s break

Is it true that Longfields will only warrant the axles/CVs, if their hub gears are used too??

Yes and no. If the stub shaft is damaged due to the hub gear going then they won't cover it. If the axle, CV bell, star or cage go, they're covered regardless of hub gears. The warranty currently covers tyres upto 39" too.

On a side note, have you noticed Bobby's Lux rear transfer output shafts are now made from 300M instead of chromoly. Hopefully he starts making complete 300M 30 spline axle and CV's soon - not just the cage.

Dirty 30's have a Lifetime "no questions" warranty .
Through Locktup.

Every thing breaks, I've broken 2 sets of Longfields over years too.

30 spline longs and hub gears fit them
And never worry about them again. I've had a set of 27's and broken a axle next set I buy will be 30's whenever I get around to finishing my pos
