I have just recently purched a 1991 hilux dual cab, it is running a vp commodore v6. It is due for new tyres now and i am waying up to go 35 inch or 33. the diffs gears are 4.88 as it had the 22r petrol motor in it orignaly. At the moment it runs 31's And is reving over 3000 just to sit at 100km, will the 33inch tyres be enough to bring the revs down to a suitable level or are the 35inch tyres needed for this ? for the moment the lux wont be used for any hard off road use but in the future i plan on it, not till i can sort some stronger axles, cv's and transfer case gearing tho. If 35's are the go than the lux will get converted to crossover high steer to strengthen up the weak standard steering. Any other ponits that I may need to consider ?
Sorry if this has been coverd 1000 times but i did seach and couldnt find what i was after.
cheers for any help that you may be able to offer

do you have tyre clearance for either tyre? how much are you willing to spend to make them fit? axles and cvs is about a thousand bucks. so the cost from goin to 33" to 35" you dont need trans gears to run tyre size.
you dont need his steer for 35s or 33s.

Clerance at the rear is no problem as it is getting a new tray made at the moment and will be designed to suit which ever tyre size i go, front is on the tight side but when cross over high steer is installed i will push the diff foward a couple of inch's and extend bump stop's if needed. Pretty happy to pay the price for a set of Longfields as they are an awesome product and come with a great warrenty. AS for high steer not needed, while im going to all the effort to convert to cross over i might as well install some high steer arms while im at it as it will help in the future.

I was clearing 35s on 2" spring and 2" shackle lift in my ln65. yet to fit my 35s to my ln106.
I just bought locktup 3" bolt in kit so we will are how it goes. I was never running hi steer just a dropped draglink and no torque rod. For cheap shocks I was using YJ wrangler shocks. 2" longer then factory did me fine.
I didn't get a chance to try my 35s on rocks but I was flogging it for a few trips in the mud Bd never broke. CV or AXLE.
I would sujest to wide track as you will get tyre on chassis rail in the rear if you have any flex. I use to
