Hi I am having trouble with the fuel gauge in the Pajero at 1/4 mark the tank seems empty. Does anyone know where I can access the sending unit at the tank.

I don't know about the Gen 3, but Gen2s have a removable panel in the floor in the load area, under the carpet, towards the forward side of the fuel tank. I believe it's primarily for access to the fuel pump, but I think the gauge can be reached here too.

On a Gen 2, the fuel pump and the fuel gauge sender come out the same hole. I cannot see MM changing their design for this.

In a Gen 3 pajero the pump, filter and gauge is installed under the right hand rear passenger seat (2nd row - not 3rd). Flip the seat over and you will see a plate with 4 bolts. Remove that and there will be another plate in the cavity below. Remove that plate and you will see the top of the sender / pump. You might need to hose the mud off it before you remove it. You will need to de-pressurise the lines to remove them - pull the electrical connector to the pump and crank the motor for a bit. THen they will come apart.
