BJ42 to BJ45 or BJ73 to Bj45

I've had this idea kicking around in my head for a while now, and as I'm having trouble finding appropriate info, I thought I'd ask here.

I currently have a BJ42 that is my daily driver and sometime fun car It has a 5 speed, power steering and lift and a rear locker. I also have a hj45 cab that needs some rust repairs done to the floor, firewall, and a bit on the backpanel. This was bought with the intention of learning to weld on, so its a bit rough.

What I was thinking of doing was to pull the 42 body off and swap the repaired 45 cab on. I'd also move the rear axle back using 60 series springs, possibly flipped.

The other option I thought of was to sell the 42, and swap the 45 cab onto a bj73 that I've seen. This would get me closer to the wheel base I'm looking for, and potentially be less hassle with an engineer. It would also give me the power steering, 5 speed and aircon, and the car in question has a turbo on it.

In both cases the front body mounts( 42 and 73) are nearly identical to the 45 cab, and the 42's middle ones (should) work with the rear of the 45 cab.

I realise it would beasier to sell the 42 and just buy a 45 ute, but I'd really like a SWB 45.

Does anyone know of these two options, which is more likely to get the tick of approval from the nice people at DOT QLD.

Good options mate,

On the flip side of things. I have a spare 45 chassis front and rear diffs, 4 speed box and a few other bits and pieces. Im looking at moving soon so may be an idea to do a clean out, send me a P.M. if you want any more info.

Cheers.
Luke

I vote the 45 cab on the 73 chassis.
