I brought my 86 range rover 3.5 v8 couldn't get running cause of split fuel lines. Fixed them and still won't start , I am getting fuel because sparks plugs getting wet from fuel. I've got spark, have new plugs ,leads ,dizzy cap and rotor. yet won't fire at all ????
Previous owner said was backfiring before it stopped working
Any ideas welcome
Thanks heaps
Trav

Check that the leads are in the correct position & timing is correct, the dissy may have been placed in wrong position, not hard to do, I have done it

I don't know much about that engine, is the distributor electronic or does it have points ?

? I've tried using a timing light on my car and won't work but works on other cars with a dizzy. Why would this be? Could it be not enough juice from my coil pack ?
Thanks

I hope that link works

No 1 is nearest to the dissy...front right as you are looking at the engine. Make sure no 1 is on the compression stroke, remove the plug poke your finger in as you get near tdc...you need pressure, if not one more turn until you get pressure at TDC then set up the leads as per the link. no1 is the one the rotor arm is now pointing at.

PS charge you battery up fully first! :D
