FZJ80 clutch replacement.

Hey all,

Just chasing some pointers on replacing the clutch in my 80s. It's well and truly on its way out.

I'll hopefully have a workshop to use. So a hoist, trans jack, etc.

So far my searching and googling has refunded me little info on the subject. Only things such as "must jack front of engine to reposition box after clutch has been replaced", "box is bloody heavy, best to take transfer off to make job easier".

Any tips, hints, tricks and the like would be great. Also, how long would I expect this job to take? Will be myself and probably 1 other person on the job.

2nd Attempt...
I replaced my clutch a few years ago and made the mistake of saving a few $$$ and bought a valeo clutch and am very unhappy with it, do yourself a favour and spend the few extra dollars. I didn't remove the transfer but was all done on the ground as I didnt have access to a hoist. Just used 2 jacks to support the gearbox and slide it backwards. With 2 people you should be able to do it in 1-2 days. If the kit you buy does not come with a new flywheel you will need to get this machined so keep in mind your local brake clutch shop may not be open on the weekend. While I was at it I replaced the thrust bearing and the rear main seal and bearing. Oh yeah and its bloody heavy.
