hi all,

something that i've been thinking about for a year or so, the purchase of a cheap set of 31 inch BF Mud Terrains has prompted me to pul my digit out.

I've trolled the web (heaps of info - some really dodgy), won the ebay bid on Justcruzins lift kit (awaiting arrival) WD40 all the mounts, aquired a small pile of 4x4inch offcuts as i only have a trolley jack & a car jack....

i have a couple of questions that I'm hoping the gurus here who have body lifted their Vits can answer:
1. steering colomn spacer - the web says both yes & no, depending upon forum & poster, is it necessary?
2. fuel filler pipe - do I need a longer one for a 2 inch lift?
3. are there any other pipes/hose that I need to replace with longer pipe/hoses?
4. from your personal experiences, what wouldnt you do if you were doing another Vit body lift?

thanks for your responses & my apoligises if i'm asking questions that have already been answered here on this forum

The instructions with the justcruizin kit will answer all your questions.

thanks zukmeista - you are on the money!

the justcruizin kit arrived in the mail 2 days a go - very neat & well made. the instructions are pretty thorough & got me through today.

the lift is now installed, pretty easy once I'd removed the bullbar to remove the grill so I could remove the anti pollution gear to remove the windscreen washer resivior to remove the drivers side head light to remove the factory bolt, the passenger side was way easier - i only had to remove the air filter to remove the headlight to remove the factory bolt. disconnected the hand break, fuel filler pipe, passenger side brake line & drivers side brake line coupler (dont know corret name) - that all took longer than the actual lift!

I used a trolley jack & a couple pieces of hard wood to lift the passenger side first, a bit scary as it was fair height to jack before i could install the 2 inch lift blocks. took a couple of ups & downs to get a couple of the 'high tensile retainer female M10 fine bolts' to engage but it was pretty quick & easier on the drivers side.

I reconnected & reinstalled all bits & pieces, except for the rear bumper - thats tomorrows job along with the gear & transfer case boots. I bunny hopped the mighty Vit out of the garage - forgot to replug the air sensor in the air filter, hence engine surging & dieing.

was this a difficult job, nup (even for a mechanical numpty like me). To all those members of this forum & others around the world, thank you for taking the time to post your lifting experiences on the web - i wouldnt have attempted this if it wasnt for the info & pics you've all posted. Thank you.

the Vit is looking a bit taller now, the 31 inch BFGoodrick MUd Terrains will fit no worries now!

its been almost 2 weeks since the 2 inch body lift installation & fitting the 31inch BFGoodrich MUd Terrrains & its been all good!

the rear bumper lift was sorted with a length of 50x50m tube & 3 x 50mm longer bolts, the engine air inlet support was raised using longer bolts & some large nuts as washers & the gear stick rubber boots were either inverted (transfer case gear lever) or removed (gear box outer boot).

with the bigger rubber, the speedo is approx 10% out - so i'm currently using my Galaxy S2 with GPS Speedo app when driving.

the Mighty Vit looks pretty cool & best of all, the diffs are now higher off the ground!
