yep its deisel 2.8. had a look with him yesterday and looks pretty good for a ten year old, no rust anywhere, what looked like bloody good custom side steps and bar work, cept the pricks at the car yard wouldnt let him take it for a test drive unless he would be willing to commit on the day

Act like you don't really want to buy it! and if the seller ask you if you like it just say well i'm not really sure if i like it, at this price
, just be negitive about the car till you hear the price you like or drop lines like well you know 6mths redgo would be nice, or i saw a newer model in the paper for $7000 or you know stuff like that. good luck

btw those "pizza cutters" or "cheese cutters" will diffently be going if i get it, i was thinking about 33" or 35" MRT's or Simex's

Always late in a 2.8 on road
&
Shaken not stirred offroad
I saw a lux, 2.8 steel tray 33's in good nick for $8500 near wagga wagga on the weekend so 10 is probably a bit much

Does anyone have any other suggestions on a different type of car?

Well really you just have to ask your self what your really after, i.e : Some thing ezy to clean, (some times), lite, LOTS of after market stuff to buy, comes sprung over stoke (more Clearince than most 4x4), and they look KOOL
, then you would probly want a HI-LUX
, Patrols are fuel eaters, and have some clearince problems cos U bolts and purchers can get stuck, but apart from that my second choice would be a MQ or Mk, but if i had the money GQ NISSAN Patrol just cos there Kool to and sound awsome there 6cyl and the NISSAN Diesel Motors (i have herd)are one of the strongest diesel motors around, Don't really know about any other 4x4's but go the LUX there Mini MONSTER trucks

Mate has a GQ coil cab, no turbo but extractors, bigger exhaust, running 37's with a 6" kit under it, running open diffs (no lockers) and it goes everywhere, dearer to buy, but more comfy, roomier, looks tough, and as much as I hate to say it, nissan diffs are almost bulletproof, and thats from a lux owner, prob won't cost as much to keep on the road after you purchase it.

i know a guy with A GU coil all round, ITs a Turbo Diesel, not sure on lift but his Runing 35'. Has your mate got any engine mods or a new engine ? but yeah i would have to agree with every thing you said, a mate of mine has a MQ Patrol and that car went through so much befor anything big had to be done to it, the amount of times we got it boged is uncountable but we only realy got it boged cos we did dumb but fun stuff like driveing in to a mud pudle
and basicly haveing the engine runing under water, when we finly got it out the only thing that needed fixing was the starter motor witch only tock a fuw hits from a hamer to work agin
but i still love the my old HI-LUX

Dunno bout patrols bit pricey and huge fuel bills
Found this one, price is crap and its in vic
but if the kms were real it'd be a great buy
