I'm looking at making up my own fairlead for the pto winch, its drum is about 11 inches wide so i cant use a standard warn style one.
Anyone got an aluminium one? If so how thick is the aluminium, i'll be running dynamica rope on it, also how wide is the slot (height).
Just that ive got a big plate of aluminium 20mm thick and access to a milling machine.

Yea i heard he does, but all this stuff is at my disposal for free, well technically i'll be getting paid to make it, just as i'm getting paid at this ungodly hour :D
Just interested to know a few sizes, I'm thinking a steel plate welded to the bar and bolt the aluminium fairlead to that, maybe 25mm slot for the rope then make the slot rounded using the mill, like the bought ones, sounds too easy!

I made mine out of 316 stainless steel and polished it where the rope contacts it. It works a treat and has no signs of wear. The alloy ones can be a bit soft and if the rope is dirtly which it usually is it seem the wear a groove into the alloy easily and if this happen at robs winching power and builds up heat which aint good for the synthetic rope.
