Hey Frank,

I remember a couple of years back after you got your ARB you upgraded the air lines etc.

What is the problem with the ones they supply standard?? are they not up to the job??

Can you recap what you did>

Also I have heard that there is a problem with diff oil working its way back through the air line & into the compressor> Is this still true or has it been fixed.

One way to solve this would be to fit some sort of one way valve into the air line so it keeps the oil out.

What do you reckon.

cheers

I used to get oil in the airlines in my old suzuki. Everytime you would turn off the locker and get the pssss sound, it would spray oil into the engine bay out of the compressor. Lengthening the lines with loops in it seemed to fix the problem. I also cover the blue airline with s/s braided hose. Just stops anything from damaging it. I though you can buy heavier duty airlines but not 100% sure.

Hi Ian, yeah what I did was to install a pressure gauge at the compressor itself. Later I installed another pressure gauge (on the dash) using 8mm HD Festo airline. I also found a brass adaptor fitting that converts the compression fitting on the diff housing to a BSP thread then I used a Festo quick connect to run quarter inch airline back to the compressor. ARB use 5mm airline and you can't get it anywhere but them. 4, 6 & 8mm and imperial sizes are very easy to get and we just happen to use those sizes at work ;)
If your getting diff oil in the airline and spraying out of the solenoid when disengaging the locker then the O ring seal in the locker is leaking.
In 3 years I have never had oil come back up the airline.

Arb used to do a heavy duty air line for the diff end.
It was like a brake hose.
How long has your diff been in? The oil can either come from the piston seal,or the 2 O rings outside the diff carrier bearings.
The reason for the O ring failure is generally incorrect clearance between the O rings and the slip ring.If the rings contact the S/R they wear flats or even burn allowing oil leaks.
The S/R clearance is quite fiddley to set up.
Either fault can be a warrenty claim.

oil up the lines can also be residual pressure in diff... ie blocked breather.
blue lines are pretty tuff and if run up inside of chassis rails, away from exh etc can last for years.
