need to find some information for the brother, he has a 74 shorty with a dead 3b and he wants to replace that with a 2f and retain his t/case and shafts. question is , is this possible without too much drama ie g/box output shaft, length of 2f,engine mounts etc. have rtead somewhere that 2f has 4 eng mounts thanks in advance shayne

best way to do it would be pull the engine, gearbox and transfer from the donor vehicle and fit it - a 2F will not bolt up to the gearbox in that truck. of it's the stock motor in a '74 it would be a B, not a 3B. the early 2F's used 4 engine mounts and the gearbox/transfer hung off the back, later models used a more 'conventional' setup with 2 mounts on the engine and one under the gearbox on a crossmember. you're looking at a pretty big job on a vehicle that in all honesty probably isn't worth investing the time in.
what's wrong with the "dead" diesel?
cheers

bottom line is the 2F won't go in where the B/3B is without gearbox mods, so the cheapest thing to do is try and get another B motor to bolt in there, otherwise get a 2F with the gearbox etc and drop that in, fabricate engine mounts etc if necessary.
might even be cheaper to try and pick up a V8 conversion but that's only cheap if you can pick up all the bits for cheap.
good luck

correct... although it comes down to how you drive. I used to have a FJ40 and if I was very very careful I could get it down to 12 - 13 litres/100km. but mostly it was fun to drive fast and get lousy economy
