Hilux ln111r diff problems!

I have had my truck for around 6 months using it for everyday use and a bit of 4wding at the same time.
When i bought it the old owner to me he had put 3.5 gears in the front and rear diff recently and had serviced them at the same time (seemed to me that he wasn't lying as there was fresh excess sealant around the diff centres, and the gears are long).
Yesterday i noticed a ticking sound coming from the rear which got louder and louder as i drove more, took it passed my mates who's a mechanic and he told me straight away my rear diff is gone (after running it in the air on a jack) probably some teeth missing off the crown wheel or pinion.
My trucks setup with 2" sus + 2" body lift, 33's and is a 2.8D with DTS turbo kit
What ratio diff centres should i go for? It is easier for me to do the diff ratio's together as the car is already off the road

I highly doubt it is 3.5 it would more likely be 4.5.

For 33's 4.5 ratio centres are probably ideal but if you ever think you might go bigger tyres then go 4.88 ratio.

4.88's will give you a slightly lower gearing when 4wd'n but 4.5's will be a bit better for highway use (lower rpm at highway speeds) but it is only a very small difference between the two so either one will be fine.

You most likely had 4.3 ratio standard.

I'd be pulling out the rear diff to have a look at it, if it's a 4.5 ratio which it is most likely to be then just buy another 4.5 centre. The rear is easy to do anyway..

i did a quick check by marking the tailshaft and rotating the tyre one full revolution and the ratio came out as 3.7, just called the original owner and he confirmed it has 3.7's. i definatly need the ratio's changed as i cant even use 5th gear, it does 110km in 4th easily.

Do you have crawler gears, because with that ratio it wouldn't really have much of a low range. Not real sure why he would have changed to 3.7's 4wd hilux's don't have that ratio as far as I'm aware that's a 2wd ratio..

At least go 4.3's minimum but as I said before id be looking at a set of 4.5's front and rear.

Keep a eye out on outers and eBay as you get the two 4.5's/ 4.88's for at least $500, maybe less.
