Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi guys I am going to do a quarter panel chop on my gq wagon because they are getting smashed up and I need to make a bar, so I was just wondering if anyone could tell me how to attach the sheet metal to the bottom of the quarter . I have seen many different ways of attaching it and was wondering what is the most popular way? Any pictures would also be very helpful.

when i did my old patrols chop i bent the body around, and drilled and pop rivited the sheet to it.

biggest thing is to make sure you use alot of silyflex glue aswell to make it water tight.

i then ran a layer of silyflex and puttty over it before painting.

come up ok & my tube bar covers alot aswell.

Yeah im not really keen on just rivits and that sealent stuff. is it still as strong and hold the water as good as a weld?

Use Sikaflex 252. It's for automotive structural applications. It'll be fine

i had the rivvets and the sillaflex on it for ages, never leaked and i drowned it a few times...

just dont be stingy with the glue....

if your good enough to weld metal as thin as a body do that but welding that thin without a good welder and know how may cause it to blow through.

im going to do this truck aswell...

i got a piece of tin (i was a roofer) cut it to shape and just sikaflexed it in..... no rivets..... stayed for 12 months and even held water inside it when it got wet inside the cab, had to drain it with a rag inside the car. my piece fit up inside the chop about 10mm so i had a nice straight edge on the bottom
