Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I need to make some gards come flares and won't to know where to buy some flat black plastic to make them out of the front would be 1300mm buy 500mm approx and rear would be 200mm buy 1200mm or so at a guess also what sort of money is this stuff worth ? thanks in advance Darren

Clark rubber in Melbourne sell it. Not sure on $$$ but not too expensive.

It may not be wide enough but Bunnings sell rubber garden edging as well

Just an interesting bit of info I just got. I'm in the process of getting the Zuk road worthy again and an issue came up with my flares. Currently they are 150mm wide polyurethane sheet. It covers the tyres but is not road worthy because a flare has a couple of roles to perform. it must cover the tyres, be able to stop flying debris from the tyres and as a safety feature be strong enough to deflect someone from hitting the tyres in an accident. So it must be a solid flare not rubber strip etc.

Would a Black wheelie bin do the job????? People seem to leave them laying in their gutters once a week.

I'm gonna treat my jeep to some black plastic garden edging just like Jake's w-i-i-i-i-de track zook. Wish I'd seen it 4 years ago before paying $$$$ for warn flares !!

yeah that is basically what mine are like and they aren't road worthy

try a truck spares place and buy some of the plastic mudgaurds.
i think you can get some that fit 16" truck wheels that might be the right size.
If theyre good enough for a truck they should pass roadworthy'.

Then how do the soft flares fitted factory to ALL defenders go????

*Plastic 44's i had thought of them but the rear flares are 1400 long and that is longer than it would be around the drum i would say plus if i had to buy them i may as well buy new flat stuff thanks Pet there inpossible to get here unless you have a contact
*I did go to drives for industries they sell black sheet plastic similar to the white teflon chopping boards you have at home as i need weird sizes i would have to buy a 1500mm x 3000mm sheet which i need half of , the sheet is $123.80 plus GST I would say this is where i will end up .

*Now reg road worthy my enginer knows my intentions and never seemed to have a concirn with them done this way but he is makeing me run a removable front bumper for the exact reason you mentioned grimo what state are you in is it the enginer or RWC merchanic that is pulling you up on this ? thanks All Darren

It is my rwc guy. Because my Zuk looks fairly modified we are trying to be very particular with the bits and pieces. The flares need to be structural to a degree ie they need to have some strength so the defender soft ones are ok as they have some solidity in them. in the past i have had my previous flares passed but it is just a heads up thats all.

im looking at doing the same thing daz. but for the structural part, im going to run scrub bars around the guards. pretty much the same as chris's green 40 thats sitting in total 4wd at the moment. there was pictures of it on offroadimages but they have updated their site and its gone.

it has the 5mm thick black plastic guards.
