Hi guys I've found a rust free 7/91 Gq wagon just surface stuff In the roof 3" lift and 15x10 rims the other things like diffs and boxs are fine. It runs fine / quiet when the reves are at say 2000, 2500 RPM no knockes or bangs blows some bluish smoke but it ideles like a bucket of **** and the engine dies after about 15 seconds of idling really rough. I checked the secondary air cleaner and there was oil in the inlet where the filter sites. I pulled the oil filler cap off to check for water and pushed my hand over the hole for about 5 secounds and it builds up pressure in the rocker cover. Any thourghts on wat the problem is. The guy wants $2500 is it worth that.

Also Wat are the td42 rebuild kits like on eBay are thay any good there $1400 is that reasonable.

Thanks for any help

Got the head off today The head gasket was fine but piston Numbers 2, 3 and 4 have picked up on the linings so I can get a full rebuild kit from Repco for $1050. Will I still have to get injector pump and injectors reconditioned or can I just get them tested and if thay test ok reuse them then do a tank and line flush clean the goorze filters and do the fule filters.

Would ring some engine builders get some prices on a rebuild. Maching costs the money better of using a quality rebuild kit, will work out cheaper in the long run. A badly adjusted or worn pumps can destroy an engine quickly, cheap insurance to get it checked before reusing.

I would think it unlikely the pump would need a rebuild from the problem you have described but I would have the injectors tested and check the ends before putting it back together
