Hey all,
I'm sure this topic has probably been covered at some stage but I find the search function sux and takes way to long.

I'm in the process of building up a GQ wagon. 4" lift and no cab lift.

Question is what size tyres are people running and are guards needing to be trimmed much???

I'm currently running 33's and want to go to 35's with the possability of 37's as play tyres down the track if funds allow.

I know the front guards are easy to trim out but not sure about the rear?? Rear quarter chop is easy, just not sure about trimming the rear guards?

Any info would be good.

My 3rd GQ with 4inch lift, no body lift. 35s with radius arm spacers and this one has drop boxes. Front mud guards stay on, for a while but do touch the tyres. Landcruiser offset rims.

Yeah. I got neg 20 offset alloys on mine. What about the rear? Did it chew the flares off??

I got aftermarket flextime flares. I wonder if a rear quarter chop would help with that cause I think the rears would be pretty hard to trim out as the wheel tub on the inside and the outer skin are joined on that lip of the guard :bad-words:

33's can rub on the back of the front guard. Bending the mud flap generally fixes it.
35's rub on the guard itself. But 10 to 15mm spacers seem to prevent most damage. On the rear the std flares want survive. Flexie flares bolted to the side of the guard should allow enough clearance.
37" tyres are going to need the guards to be trimmed. Front and rear. On the front they touch a lot of metal at the rear of the guard. Rear I am not sure how much needs to be a trim. As the 37's where on a mates ute.
