hey guys as mentioned a few weeks back i snapped a rear axle in my LN106 hilux with a IFS rear diff.

i have been hunting around for a replacemtn axle but cant find any in darwin.

i rang up LOCKTUP 4x4 and spoke to Tash and she said they dont sell them because they feel the factory ones are stronger then aftermarket

So i was on SUPERIOR ENGINEERINGS website and they sell CROMO axles for $600 a pair, also Mentioned 5 YEARS WARRENTY

anyone delt with these axles or had any issues with them or there warrenty?

cheers

Mate got some, broke them, claimed warranty (can't remember the details but both Locktup and superior where involved) last I heard he was still having warranty issues 18months later (he has actively chased them for a long time tho)

Blackened. Dont wanna buy overseas it scares me

So it was the same brand locktup and superior were selling?

Do you know why warranty takes so long? They are very cheap compared to the front

Just put a standard axle back in.
I've broken chromo front parts but never a standard rear axle

Check it's not trail gear rear cromo axles, I broke a rear trail gear one first good drive on them fairly easy..
And took me ages to get a replacement even though it said no questions asked warranty..
I did however get a replacement.. But scared to try them again, I've pushed my stock ones so much harder with no breakages.

Want to buy my cromo rear ones? One brand new other driven on twice? :)

Just had a look they are the trail gear ones (superior site)..Think they were 400-450 delivered from low range offroad.. 600 is a bit steep

the ones superior are selling are the NITRO AXLES. comes with 5 years warrenty

from the website

*Rear Chromoly Axles - Warrantied against manufacturing defects for 5 years. These products are also covered for Breakage. The Shaft must be BROKEN. Worn, twisted, or bent axles are not warrantable.

sounds very rough mine sounded like that but was no where near the rough when i was wheeling no bouncing no revs no nothing

Yeh ok my mistake I thought they were the ones they sold as I looked at them before I bought the ones off lowrange offroad..

The track was fairly big not nothing extreme, rocks were mostly slippery and damp (always shady)

Nitro might be ok, not sure in them but for me it's not about getting them covered under warranty it's the hassle breaking them, having to go home and pull it apart..

Can't find hilux ifs or surf/ 4 runner axles there? All the axles are the same just brake backing plates different.

I couldnt find 1 when i was asking for a axle for a LN111r hilux

so i did some research and found out the LN167 has the same axles even tho everywhere i was looking it was saying it had a bigger WMS-WMS then the LN111r

so i threw that in today, we will see how that goes

i stripped the front and started installing my LONGS so it wont be tested untill the 28th of this month

I have a 4 runner coil rear (ifs coil rear housing) and I interchange hilux, surf and 4 runner axles. All I do is reuse my 4 runner backing plate and assembily and throw away hilux stuff.

There is one model I think that has a slightly narrower ifs axle but not sure what it is (never come across it)

Should be alright maybe the old axle was fatigued or had a defect.

Yer that I did reused my backing plate and brakes and put it all On another axle. Yet the axle in mine was big at both ends but skinnier in the shaft thought it was weird.

We"ll see how long this axle last otherwise might have to Convert to a 75 series housing and go disk brake full floating.
