Baleno 1.6 efi -> Sierra

G'day,

I'm currently in the process of putting a new engine into my '92 SJ70 Suzuki Sierra (SUA) and was considering of putting a g16b (East west) from a '98 Suzuki Baleno. I have done some reading but with no guaranteed answers to confirmation of how much of a mission this conversion may take.

I'm aware there are conversion kits available from this site? to allow for the conversion from the Vitara g16b, was wondering what else there is to it for the Baleno configuration.

I picked up the Baleno on the conditions that I could get it started it was mine so here I am with a free Baleno for possibly my Sierra :)

Any helpful links of "how to do it" and what to look out for will be much appreciated.

Apologise in advance if this a re-occurring thread.

Cheers,

Jayce

From what no you can buy kits so you can put the 1.6 motor to the 1.3 box from eBay .
And the dizzy angel think there's a kit? If not just try and get g16b cam from a vitara and dizzy.
Sorry if its not much help its all I can remember (seen a right up about it on auszookers) ages ago

Mmm I have read one of them write ups, just curious to know if there is much to do with the East west conversion compared to the Vitara 1.6 EFI

Is it a coilpack model? Make sure its a G16B. Balenos were J18a also.

98 is kinda crossover. They had dizzy and coilpack that year. There is also 2 different coilpack models. Coilpacks on back of the head (rarer 4pin coils)can be 98', Coilpacks bolted on top of the cam cover (3pincoils) are say 98+ All have sameish hp rating so that doesn't change decisions

There are a few different things that need changing from east/west to northsouth. Most are in this thread http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic ... lit=baleno" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Most people go baleno because they are cheaper and can get lower k's. But there is abit to be done with water and depending on what you have

Thanks both very helpful links. Now to just source out EVERYTHING that I need for the conversion to happen with minor problems. I will be needing a Vitara Fuel tank and use the pickup and pump from the Baleno right? or can i get away with something else?

Anyone got the link or contact details for the BenT Conversion kit?

Am I gonna have any dramas with the SPUA SJ70 Sierra and the fitment of the G16B? Prposhaft angles? (1.3L) Sump on the G16b? Steering linkages?

Easiest setup for the fuel tank is a fuel tank out of an SJ80 sierra, the coilsprung model, the fuel pump out of a vitara tank will bolt into this, and the tank will fit straight into your zook. Drive shafts will be fine, but sump mods will be required. I think there is some info about this in the link I posted?

Ok, cheers mate, slowly chippin through the thread's page by page haha. I just hope it ends up being a relatively simple conversion for the amount of writing there is to read and take note :?
