Measurements on GQ

I am doing a built with a GQ chassis as the base and will be fully engineered etc. The amount of 'body lift' is determined fromt the front seats of the body I am putting on (LN106 hilux) - I am allowed to go 4 inch total lift so if the seat in teh hilux sit at the same height as the original patrol ones I have no 'body lift' and can go 4 inches on the springs. Make sense?

Anyway as I only have the patrol chassis and front floorpan and firewall I need to work out what height the orginal patrol seats sit in realation to the chassis.
Is anyone able to measure from where you bum sits in the seat to say the floor pan or handbrake or trans tunnel?
I was thinking maybe laying a piece of something straight and flat accross both seats then measure down to the seats and down to the trans tunnel and I can work off that.

Muchly appreciated and there may even be some beers in it if you

Cheers
James

How is that going to work?

A hilux seat sits almost on the floor, a Patrol seat is mounted quite high, and has about a 4" "spacer" between the slide which bolts to the floor and the actual seat base.

So if you had the floor pan of the Hilux body sitting at the same spot as the Patrol body, the Hilux seat would be sitting nearly 4" lower then a Patrol seat.

So by that theory, you would go a 4" lift and it would account to as none.

It either doesn't make sense, or a massive loop hole that needs exploiting the crap out of.

A loop hole that needs checking out I think. I am now wondering if I mount the body as low as it can go does that mean I can go 6inched of lift? not that I want that much? of if the body/seat is 4 inches lower than the patrol and I run 4 inch spring lift does it even need to be engineered as I am running stock height :finger:

I guess they have to draw a line in the sand somewhere or I could make massively high or low body mounts - just doing what I have been told by the engineer as he is the one who has to sign off on it

im actually thinking of doing the same body swap, gq chas with ln111 extra cab body with 1uz ( got a lexus as a daily driver, love the motor ) from what i can tell and from checking out a truck that has already been done the body mounts on the patrol chas need to be moved for the lux bod. if left at the same height as orig patrol mounts, the the hilux seats will be at least 70 mm lower than the patrol seats were. if in nsw like myself, 2 inch bod and 2 inch spring lift can be got away with. most engineers will be happy with lux seats lower than patrol and a 4 inch spring lift if using gear from reputable company ie superior. home made gets harder if your signatory engineer insists on brake and swerve tests. i plan to fit body about 40mm higher usinf blocks and then a moderate spring lift 2 - 3 inches. by modding shock posi plenty of flex can be acheived. fing some gen gq lockers if possible and enjoy. check with the local rta as signatory lists have changed lately. apparently there are old rta engineers and bold engineers bot no old bold ones.
