ring and pinion 4.90

I have montero 1993 (4.62), I will like to increase the ratio of ring and pinion to 4.90, I know that 3.5 montero sport have it, is the same diameter, I can change it?

what motor do you have?? 3.ol or 3.5l. 1993 could be either (in Oz anyway).
If you have 3.5l then the 4.90 will fit. If not you are out of luck.
