Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hello... I just bought a samurai unseen, and upon arrival it turns out the front SPOA lift was not completed so in order to complete it, i need info on one component. I've been told I have to find either a Zlink or a dropped pitman arm to correct the steering. Then I was told that a Z-link alone will not do the job... so what is the truth? Do these both do the same thing? which is better? I've been told that zlink corrects bump steer better, but i've also been told the opposite, that it does nothing for bump steer... I've searched online, but no one seems to have a difinitive conclusion on this issue. Due to the expense of it, high steer is out of the question for me, altho i've heard it is the way to go...

I needed both for my old SPOA

The spoa moves evertying down 4 inches (aprox.)

So you need a 2 inch drop pitman arm and the zlink.




Aside from this you could just get crossover steering, there are a few suppliers on this board

doing my spoa at the moment. I had to use a drop arm with my z link.
but could maybe get away with just a z link if you get the bend/length right.
My mate and i made mine by pressing the solid steering arm into the hollow track rod and bending to suit in the press. was fine for spoa on stock springs, but mine are 3 inch raised so needed drop arm tom ake up difference

Go crossover much safer and will drive heaps better.

Fark its got some serious shackles on it.

I thought initially it had a shackle reversal kit installed they were sooo looong, was not until I looked at the full image that I realised they were just really loooong shackles

Aaron , is the front axle spring over in that pic ?
Or is it just the (ladder ) shackles that give the front its lift ?


Although spring over is one of the cheapest lifts it works out just as expensive to have engineered as the the others.

As sam said the crossover is a good way to go and you can buy straight of the shelf .

And as Jon explianed you can do it with some original Parts , But your end result will need xrays this will cost around $200 They usually have a
minimum charge so you might want a couple of other things done at same time for the total amount - Your engineer shouldn,t pass the Z link without xrays - ITs a steering component , and the Drag link is a Cast item.

Whoops Just relised your from US aaron , So Have no idea what is required over there,

Aaron, a Z link will not solve any bump steer issues, anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves or lying to you,
that said, you can fit and drive a zook with a z arm, it just dosn't handle as well as a standard one.
I am thinking like Dozoor at the moment, if you where SPOA with front shackels that length you would fit 34's under there, and I may be wrong but they are a lot smaller.

this is the most elegant solution IMHO (but please wait untill I get mine before you place an order)
there are also a few other guys here that make hi steer kits, speak to them so you can be totaly informed before you spend any $
