GQ auto woes, and now joy!

I have had problems with my gq auto, ultra slow shifts, delayed shifts, surging, and being really sluggish in general. took it to wholesale auto's, and got one of the extreem valve bodies fitted. it now shifts nice and fast, but not hard enough to make the cd skip, like a shift kit does. also there is more power available, and no surging. i also got the convertor lock up kit, and the temp guage, but havnt fitted them yet. i will let you all know how they go. it now goes heaps harder, and can take off at the lights, nd keep up with everyone else. now for the turbo kit

Anybody wanting to take advantage of the specials that we have on the Extreme Valve Body, Temp Gauge Kit and Lock-Up Manual Control kit needs to order by the end of this week before the special that was offered to all Outer Limits viewers ends.

I can live with that Pete! If anybody wants to register with that deal by the end of the week by E-mail to me then I will hold that deal for them until the end of August. Send me your details Pete so I can at least add you to the order list but just put a hold on it for you.

Comes with a full set of fitting instructions so any mechanic can fit the valve bodies. I don't have anybody is Sydney that comes to mind. I do in Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne.

i started fitting the lock up switch and temp guage tonight. i have put the gauge on the carpet, between the console and dash, it fits well, can still access the switches, and doesnt rub on my leg. the dash light wire i found while fitting the stereo, a pink wire, or use the ashtray light. just got to find a decent power wire and im done. oh and the wire at the pcm. has been quite simple so far!
btw, are the wires so thin on all nissans? they are so thin on a gq, they would make good demister wire!!!

They all seem to be thin probably because they have to run so many wires into the same plug and the transmission doesn't need a lot of current.
Let me know how you go. Good thing about the temp gauge is that the mount that comes with it allows for it to be put almost anywhere.

Just wondering does the trans ecu run on 12v as in 12v needed to operate the solenoids or is it a reduced voltage

We have the Extreme Recalibrated Valve Body, Temp Gauge Kit and the Lock-Up Manual Control in both 12v and 24v. The Transmission Control Unit (TCU) runs variable voltage ranging from 8.5v - 14.5v when activated and 0.2 - 1.0v when not activating. The TCU continually measures resistance even when not activating the lock-up. It does this to check for fault such as open links or straight earth ( Low or high resistance) the TCU knows what the resistance should be all the time.

One of my mates needs a auto for his GQ its petrol 12v system i take it he cant use one out of a deisel GQ that runs a 24v system then?
Also where in brisbane can i get a extreme valve body and get it fitted?

by Extreme_Trans
No you can't use a 24v Diesel transmission in a Petrol 12v car Nissan, the convertor, stater tube, rear pump half and bell housing are all different. Yes I do have someone in Brisbane that can fit my Extreme Valve Bodies and transmissions.

Yea lots of help i rand up about my GQ auto name is john im going to speak to your mate rob at southport

Now I know. Rob from Action Automatics in Southport is a really nice guy and is going to be handling most of our QLD fitting and maintenance work for our full range of Extreme Valve Bodies, Temp Gauge Kits, Lock-Up Manual Control units and other specialized transmissions such as our Extreme Transmissions and 4 wheel drive conversion range. Any mechanic can fit these kits them selves but if anyone in Brisbane or the Gold Cost wants someone to fit them up then we will get Rob to install them for you. We also have someone in Perth and of cause we cover Melbourne. But remember anybody that has the time and some mechanical knowledge will be able to fit all of these kits.

Hey Rod my transmission hasn't slipped anymore i tok it for a good drive and everything seems normal again for the time being that is i have noticed though when i put it in reverse it makes 2 knocking noises the first one was allways there just taking the slake up in diff etc but now there is a secod knock? i am going to take it to rob on the 11th to get a service and a extreme vave body installed that is if i don't need a rebuild

i got my switch and guage working this weekend. cruising around without the convertor locked up (manually or automaticly), it sits on about 100 degrees, and with the convertor locked it drops to about 50 deg. a great kit, very easy to fit, thanks!!

Bartso: Get Rob to give me a ring when it gets there! If you want to fit the Extreme Valve Body you will need to give me 4 days to get it there. If the box requires rebuilding then you will still need to have the valve body there for him. Or you can take it to him for a service and check and book the Extreme Valve Body another day depending on the results that Rob finds.
Crushu: Good to hear that all went well and both the Lock-Up Manual Control unit and Temp Gauge kit are both working well. You will learn so much about your transmission and the way the Nissan responds to different terranes just by watching the Temp Gauge. I have had several people tell that one of the best accessaries that they have ever fitted was the temp gauge kit. You can see what's going on, sort of a strain gauge.

ok if rob finds metal shavings in my pan how long will my trans last if i get the extreme valve body fitted anyway as a full rebuild is a little costly for me at the moment??

G'Day all, I have a mate with an 92 petrol GQ AUTO, it has been slipping and then banging into gear forward and also into reverse, would it be the electronics or the valve bodies i have read about, Can the electronics be replaced, switches, or is it stuffed. be better if he went manual gearbox.
