Re: yn65 brakes upgrade slotted or not
I dont have a V8 powered Lux, but I have upgraded the braking system on my 86 Lux. Massive improvement.
Heres what I used....
80series landcrusier brake booster and master cylinder. From an early 80 that had drum brake rear end.
Vented rotors and matching calipers from some LN106ish Lux. Not sure what model they came off, but it was a live front axle model.
Much bigger rotor, and the pistons in the calipers are 42mm.
As for mods to make it fit, heres what I had to do to mine....
Bigger rotor fitted right on, even used the same wheel beearings and seals as before, which was a freakin bonus!!
Had to cut a small chunk out of the brake backing plate so the bigger calipers would bolt up sweet. But used the same bolt holes.
Had to egg the hole in the firewall to make the booster bolt up nice and flush, just used a dremel bit on the drill.
Ive heard of people running the boosters upside down, so they dont need to egg the hole, but I didnt.
Ive also heard of people running 80series brake pads, as they are bigger, but apparently fit in the calipers nicely.
Made a massive improvement in braking performance, still awesome braking, and its been a couple of years since I fitted it all.

Re: yn65 brakes upgrade slotted or standard
Just go standard vented off a LN106. I've been told by a brake mob that the earlier calipers are better as one piston is smaller than the other.
