Is there any markings on a Hilux diff to tell what ratio thay are? or do you have to pull them out to find the ratio?

Most accurate way to tell the ratio is, get the centre out, and count the teeth on the crownwheel, then count the teeth on the pinion, and divide the 2 numbers, ie; 43 teeth on CW, 10 on P. 43 divided by 10, ratio is 4.3.

Or if you know the centres are in there from the factory, then theres an easier way, to know based on what engine it has.
2.8d - 4.3ratio
2.4d - 4.5ratio
petrol - 4.8ratio

Read the axle code on the vin plate. this relies on the diffs being stock.
