Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Righto Outers, long story short roof rack bolts have leaked and let water run down A pillars into the vehicle.

It lost all power, was towed home and sat in the drive way for a day before I looked at it, put key in ignition got working windows, engine starts and runs as per normal, headlights, tail lights, indicators all work, got radio.

The drama is that the instrument cluster is dead or so it would seem. I get airbag warning light but no others on start up but no speedo, tacho, fuel gauge etc when the car is running.

Still have instrument lights when the head lights are on.

Oh and the wipers don't work either.

I have pulled every fuse and they are all fine.

So where do I start looking ?

you say the water ran down the a piller?
the main loom from the motor might go through the fire wall in that area
so pull the glove box out and cheak in behind there, you might find a couple of big plugs there, pull them apart and look there
p.s im no 100 series expert so the loom might go through on the other side ie drivers side. or the water got in behind the instrement cluster so look at those plugs aswell.

Thanks mate. There is a small fuse panel behind the passenger side kick panel it all seems ok and there is wiring in the drivers side kick panel as well, again it all sems good. From what I understand it is a semi common problem.

The fuse panel behind the kick panel is probably supplied by one or more fuses in the engine bay. One of these fuses / fusible links may have failed. Have you checked under the bonnet?

Yep, I have pulled every fuse/ fusible link in the car and they all appear to be fine. No burnt smell or visual indicators to show they are burnt out.....

Did the water leak on the passenger or drivers side? Sounds like you're missing an ignition supply to the instrument cluster, do you have access to a wiring diagram? I'd pull the cluster out and check your supplies and earths to that, then work back from there. If all your supplies are supplying, your earths are earthing and your signals are... You guessed it.. Then I'd be looking at either opening the cluster up and checking for a dry solder joint/bad connection/burnt circuit board etc or swapping the unit out.

I'd imagine it's just going to be a bad supply or earth more than anything else though, and although your fuses might look fine, you might have something as simple as a faulty relay under the dash (burnt contacts, water logged from the leak etc) or a poor connection somewhere. I haven't worked on a 100 series in a very long time so buggered if I remember what the lay out is, where components are etc but that's the process I'd use to try to find the fault. Good luck
