GQ patrol accelerator getting stuck

Hey people,
Just wondering if any one has had the same problem I'm having and could shed some light on how to fix it. I've got a GQ patrol TB42 on dual fuel and the accelerator seems to be getting stuck on full theottle or close too. If I accelerate pretty hard and then put my foot on the clutch to change gears it keeps revving between gears (revs climbing). I can feel it accelerating whilst driving without pressing the accelerator at all, the only way I can bring it down is if I put the clutch in and give it a quick rev or hold it in gear and slow the car down until finally you feel it let off (does not feel good though as its essentially braking and accelerating at the same time). It's doing it on both petrol and gas and have tried putting another return spring on and made it quite tight (can feel that the accelerator pedal is harder to push) put still no change. The carby has been reconditioned within the last 6months and appears pretty clean and linkages all seem to move quite freely.
Any help appreciated
Alex

Could be a malfunctioning Dashpot

When you step off the gas pedal the dashpot slows the closing of the throttle, like a shock absorber. Sounds like your dashpot is too slow/sticky

Yes it will still be doing it on LPG, it controls the throttle blades. It slows the throttle blades down just before they're fully shut. Sounds like your issue is the dashpot taking too long to fully close the throttle blades.
If you google "dashpot carbie" you can learn more about it and also what it looks like.

It's actually just part of emissions control so i'd be looking to see if you can disconnect it somehow, not sure if you can though

The patrol carby had an alloy runner down in the secondary throat in the insulator spacer, they come loose and jam up the throttle valve - take off the carby at the base and throw the alloy runner away then refit carby - hope this helps
