Hey guys just brought a factory locker for my Gq all I've got is the complete diff rear diff (no lines, soleniods or air tank) I've read about people by passing all the soleniods and just using a 5 way valve saying that this works better??
Has anyone done this?
Does it work ok?
If so where can I buy a 5 way vacuum valve?
Also I'm running a big block chev with a decent cam (576 lift) will this supply enough vacuum or should I use a small air tank?
Thanks guys
Jess

with a cammed chev you need a small airtank if you want to hold full actuation at rpm.
you dont need need switches or valves . just plug the actuating hose into vaccume when you hit the track. and when you are finished remove it and plug the disconnect hose into vacuume and leave it.

Thanks Jesse ill try get a small vac tank from a wrecker, I'll try that way first up and then probably get a valve setup eventualy so I don't have to unplug hoses all the time,
Cheers

dont forget the one way valve on the inlet to the tank from the vac source. . the diesel patrol vac tanks have one inline

Ive mucked around with it alot now with an air tank, but it only engages like 1 out of 5 times? Starting to think its not supplying enough vacuum from the engine?

there may be a leak or a prob with the solenoid. my cammed 383 has enough vac to keep it locked solidly.

PS: youe air compressor is also a vac pump. Just connect a fitting to the air cleaner side and a vac switch to cut it out

Thanks jes, im not running any soleniods coz i only had the diff to start with,
Ive plumbed into the booster with a line going to a resivior with a one way valve, then goes into the cabin with a 5way valve then 2 lines back to the diff but only comes in sometimes?
I thought this should work as im doing the same thing?
How big is your cam?
I was only thinking the cam becoz i pulled off the booster line on my vs caprice 5litre and it has 2-3 times the suction
not too sure

sorry when i meant by solenoid was the diaphram on the diff.

you have to vent teh opposing port on the locker when you activate either one.

so when you lock, the unlock port must vent to atmospehere, and vice versa, this may be your prob?

my cam is not huge but my truck idles at under 800rpm, it cams out heaps but it does not lurch the car when its in drive

your truck should have evough vac at 1500rpm

Could be a soleniod problem coz its weird that it works sometimes and not others? I know what you mean with letting the air escape, the 5way valve ive got releases air when you lock and unlock,

Oh the cam in mine is pretty rough at idle and smooths out around 1200-1300, but like you said it should have enough around 1500?
