G'day guys,

Ive bought a rear ended GU ute for a steal. I want to put the ute cab and motor onto a GQ SWB chassis that has a tb42 in it.

Apart from welding in rear cab mounts, will i have to relocate engine mounts or is it in the same location.

Im also going to move the diff back to make the wheelbase that little bit longer.

Cheers

You don't have to change any body mounts at all. The cab sits straight on the chassis with no modifications at all. As for the engine mounts. I believe its the same deal. No change needed.

Moving the wheel base is almost a necessity. With a standard wheel base you'll only have about 2-3 inches between the rear of the cab and a 31 inch tyre. It looks shite and seriously limits tyre choice.

I moved my rear diff back about 300mm. Its pretty easy to do but you'll need to sort out something with the fuel tank as it will no longer fit in the same spot.

Here's a link to the page with pics of the cab sitting on the original chassis.
