When you turn off the ignition the engine still runs and coughs and splutters for about 5-10 secs, it doesn't do this all the time but it is a pain in the backside, can anybody offer me some advice on what is happening and how to fix it
many thanks

look at the carby, unbolt it, soak it in a bucket of petrol overnight, pull float chamber cover off and flush with cleaner and compressed air, reassemble and see how it goes

Sounds like pre-ignition.
Carby overhaul, revs to 700rpm, timing set. All possible
