hi guys I want to put an injected VL motor into my GQ patrol. Does the VL motor bolt up to the gear box? Do I have to change engine mounts etc... As I have to wire up the computer and O2 sensor do I have to run the Airflow meter? Any info on this project would be greatful as I will be doing it all myself. Cheers

If you currently have the RB30 carb engine, I believe the VL engine will bolt in using the patrol sump and engine mounts.
When you wire up the computer, you will pretty much need to fit it as it comes out of the Holden engine bay, including the airflow metre and oxy sensor.

Yep patrol has a sick rb30.
Leigh you'd have to wire it the same way it comes out

The vl motor fill bolt up.
You will need to swap the sump, dip stick (theres a brass driff towards the back of the motor), front pullys, crank ets if you want to run air con etc. If you decide to do the clutch - use a vl one as there the same as a GQ - but half the price. ( I had a vendor pull 2 kits apart and he confirmed the part numbers. ( I put a RB30 into a MK patrol a while back). I susgest you get you hands on a rb30 out of a skyline, as the loom is separte and easier to do compared to a vl. (be aware that the dizzys are differant vl - skyline rb30)
I would also do the timing belt while you have the motor out.
You can also put the fuel injections bits on the carby motor - save pulling the motor out.
As above you will need the efm and a oxy sensor - or you will chew the juice.

If you want to go a little different but just as easy as upgrading to a VL motor if you don't go off road a lot go a RB25det, straight bolt up to gearbox and mounts and has a lot more power standard and cant produce a lot more with a tune and some goodies...
