Have just turboed our 4.8 and the auto slips under full throttle and hunts for gears. Has anyone had success building a heavy duty 5 speed that will last? How hard is it to re-wire/delete the auto and put a manual or 4 speed auto in? Thanks mudbasher2

Aj at ABM Wiring does computer tuning at stuff like that. He did my 4L60E wiring and tuning on my LS1
0487 769 589 give him a call and have a chat, I'm sure he'd know something.

I have fitted a tb48 to my gq patrol. Orginally wanted to run the 5 speed auto. I contacted kewish in melbourne, they build a lot of auto gearboxs for comp trucks. They said they could build the box to handle 200kw but could not guarentee it for any more power than that. They could however build the 4speed autos for a lot more power.
The same 5 speed gearbox is used in the Nissan Titan you maybe able to source parts from the states to upgrade the gearbox.
I decided that the auto option was going to cost to much and went a manual
The ecu, dash, gearbox control unit and igntion key all work in unison on tb48 autos, so could prove intresting to change the gearbox.
Ontrack 4wd in victoria have done some good turbo 4.8 they could be a good source of info.
Sandy at AUS4wd maybe able to help you too.
