Inner Axle Oil seal pops out of place - wtf?

Hi All,
This is the second time this has happened to me. First time was on the driver's side, this time its on the passenger's.
Typical diff oil leaking from the swivel hub housing. Right, must be time to replace the inner axle oil seal. As I do the occasional deep muddy water crossing I expect to do this once a year.
But this is where it gets odd. As i pull out the CV joint & axle the bloody inner axle oil seal comes with it!
Now i am thinking it could be the fact that this axle has had so many rebuilds that the seal is failing to be held inplace in the axle? Last time this happened i broke out the locite not so permanent super glue as a bit of extra insurance it wouldn't happen again.
The pressure inside the diff shouldn't get so high that it starts blowing seals out of place ?
Any thoughts? Time for new axle housing?
Thanks.
