80 series auto problems

hi guys, i have a 95 80 series petrol auto. The other day one of those annoying heater hoses broke and leaked coolant everywhere.
Replaced the hose and finished up for the night. Next morning driving to work and the thing was taking off in 2nd gear. Didn't take much notice but when i got onto the highway it wouldn't change up to OD. I can take off in 1st if i manually select it but in drive it will only take off in 2nd. No the 2nd start switch is not on. Tried turning the OD button on and off while on the highway and nothing. Sitting about 3000 rpm at 100 kmph.
Fluid is only 6 months old and measures fine on the dip stick. Checked the kick down cable and it is adjusted right and i can feel it moving inside the sheath at the transmission.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Ah crap. Just noticed the date this was posted.
Oh well might help someone in the future who knows how to search.

Sounds like the tranny is in "hydralic only" mode. I read that if the computer lost control this is how it would operate.
Check all the plugs to the transmission including the speed sensors just to be sure.

In the factory service manual there is also a procedure for diagnostics on the auto by bridging some pins out in the diagnosic connector in the engine bay on the passenger side firewall and reading the flashing code on the dash.
