Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hey
Im after some advice to boost the towing capacity on my 06 3.0L GU auto
My new comp truck setup weights in at 2.64T
But the towing capacity of my GU is only 2.5T

Anyone know how to get it up just that little bit?

Its only over but like 140kgs

Dont wanna have to buy a new car just for that

No you cant change it as its a rating by the manufacturer. You wlll need another tow car.

Like voodoo said its set by the manufacturer, the only other option is if its a ute go for a goose neck set up. Its the only way i know of towing more than you standard tow rating.

The manuals can tow 3.2 can't they? Swap one in. Is it 2.6 with or without trailer though...

in NSW you get a GVM upgrade, its pretty much a suspension upgrade. then you will need a engineers cert... generaly the upgrade is good for around 500kg's

You'd need a car with the correct VIN and build and compliance plates. TML you can't increase towing capacity unless gym is over 4,5t

Gvm is how much your vehicle can weigh, has absolutely nothing to do with towing capacity so upgrading will not help.
What is need is a gcm upgrade which is gross combined mass which is your towing capacity. Getting a gcm upgrade on a light vehicle is a impossibility as it has been said before.

Is that 2.64 with trailer? If not then you'll be more than 140 over! My trailer weighs 930kg
