I did a compression test on my fj 45 1979 model and it is running on only 3.5 cylinders. 2 have nothing and 1 is at half compression. i have narrowed it down to the valves as there are no broken rockers, no broken valve springs and the rings seem good. i ran the lead replacement in the fuel but it doesnt seem to have helped and what people told me its useless. I am concerned if i pull the head off and have the valves redone its just going to happen again or is there something i can do to make this head last longer than 2 years before it burns out again.

If this engine or head is going to cause me constant grief ill just chev it.

Get the head done with hardened valve seats to suit ULP. Additives are a waste of time

How do you know the rings are good....... Why can't it be a head gasket... If 2 of the cylinders that have no comp are adjacent, it points a little more to head gasket...... Basically it costs nothing to pull the head to confirm what's crapped it's pants......

because i did a wet test and compression did not improve. i wouldnt rule out head gasket but its 3 cylinders down not 2. not to mention the fact i hear these 2f engines are notorious for killing valves. heads coming off anyway i guess.
