I believe the sierra oil of choice is the castrol vmx 80 for gearboxes. I havnt used it but on the bottle it claims to work equally effectively when the gearbox is cold and cut down on gearbox noise. Im buying some soon as im sick of having to stop in slow moving traffic to get into gear.
As for penrite I wouldnt have a clue.

80w90 is to thick for any sierra gearbox
its for some transfer cases & none lsd/locker diffs
it will also drain some hp from the zook
id suggest castol vxm80 or valvoline 75w80 gear oil.
for better shift when cold use castrol syntrans but at $20. litre its on the $$$$$$$ side

Ok i might take one of the bottles of penrite back and get some syntrans since i leave for work at 5am and its about 2 degrees at that time here in tassie!!! Is the syntrans an automatic transmission fluid or just a general gear oil?? What the full name for it??

The VMX 80 is great stuff, makes gear changes easy, stops synchro crunch and quietens down the whole box.

yeah the syntrax says its a great upgrade from the vmx. apparently (according to castrols description) its exactly the same as the stuff used in the boxes in both formula 1 and v8 supercars. Should bloody expect so at that price!
