budget airbox 'upgrade'

i've recently put a new motor in my play gq ute td42 with a big turbo. i'm still getting it properly set up as i'm broke.
my question is this:
i'm after a 'budget' airbox upgrade. i'm going from a safari snorkel through a factory n/a td42 air to a factory gu td42t still mated to the safari snorkel. i'm fairly certain the safari snorkel will not suck enough air, but that's aa different issue. the factory td42t airbox is a 3.5" inlet and 3.5" outlet and i wil probably be looking for a 4' inlet/4" outlet airbox to deliver adequate air flow to match a 4" snorkel. in a very old 4wd montly (2003 ira), a gq ute turbo petrol, had a 80 series airbox. the patroldocta ones look good but i don't like the 400-odd dollar price tag - hence this topic (also i'm looking to use the current hole in the guard at the front of the guard, which the patroldocta ones come through the top of the bonnet). any ideas are appreciated.
thanks in advance
