hi guys just woundering whats the best 3 inch exhaust to fit to a gu td42 turbo st ute
A straight through is the best but won't get passed on roadies. It has to exit past the last opening of the vehicle so behind the cab. A shorter exhaust will give you better torque and a longer one will give you more power. Main thing to remember is to keep it as free from restriction as possible so make sure you have a good dump pipe just behind the turbo. This is the most critical part of the exhaust and will make big differences to how your engine performs. Also, if you upgrade your exhause then make sure you also sort out the intake all the way to the turbo. Intake plumbing should be as straight as you can get and again restriction free. Doing the exhaust and the intake will make it drive much more like a petrol engine and you'll have a much wider power band in the rev range as well as a higher rev range.
Then the last thing is to get it dyno tuned properly. It will be a much different car.
