Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi guys
I have an issue with my 98 model pajero 3.5 litre petrol model. It has been previously fitted with an engine immobiliser and when I bought it I was told he had it disconnected. Problem is it beeps really loudly when you left the lights on or reversed with lights on so I found today where it was coming from and it was a little speaker thing near the drivers right foot. I cut the wires to it and was all gone. Problem is now the car won't start and I have no power no lights on the dash come on or radio or anything. Fuses seem ok. Any help or insight . I'm starting to think maybe the immobiliser has immobilised the car. Not sure. Thanks

By the sound of it, the wire(s) you cut may have been feeding more than just the beeper. Did you cut the wires directly adjacent to the beeper? I suggest that you temporarily reconnect the wire(s) again and see what happens. If it must have the beeper in order to start/run etc, maybe you can install a resistor of the same value as the beeper. Failing that, wrap the beeper in some heavy material to quieten it down a bit.

Another thought - maybe you disturbed some dodgy wiring which was bridging out the immobiliser. (I doubt this because that shouldn't affect teh instrument lighting etc as well.

That's what I thought and have reconnected to try but to no avail. My gut feeling is something to do with the immobiliser. Just don't know how to bypass it.

Those pajeros came with an immobiliser as standard. I would hope that is was not simple to bypass the immobiliser. I hope he doesn't mind, but there is a guy from Mitz-Fix in Melbourne (Mal) who deals almost exclusively with Magnas. Lately on aussiemagna.com there has been a bit of discussion about by-passing immobilisers on Magnas of about that vintage. He may be able to advise a bit, although if your vehicle was beeping in reverse, I suspect that Dodgy Brothers had something to do with it. Anyway, Mal's phone no is (03) 9761 6270. I was (still am) petrified that something will go wrong one day and leave me stranded half way out to Chambers Pillar or similar. Such is the price of modern technology...
