Hey everyone
Now please don't burn me for this question I dont know a lot about diffs
Wondering can you say go from a 4.3 ratio to a 4.8 ratio and use the same locker or does the locker suit the ratio?
Thanks

Qualify that.
Yes, mostly.
Some vehicles and diffs, ie Dana salisbury type have two different offset centre carriers. As you go shorter in gear rations (ie higher numbers, 3.9, 4.1, 4.56, 4.88 etc) the pinion gear gets smaller, and hence the crown gear (Crownwheel) is thicker (as the pinion cannot be moved sideways to mesh with the crownwheel). Effectively the mating face of the crownwheel gear can only be moved to suit the pinion, so the gearset is thicker.
Up to a point, then a centre with a different offset is required. With some rations you can get thick or thin crownwheel gearsets to suit your centre carrier.
Hence ARB and Eaton/detriot etc all made several centres for the same diffs, depending on ratio application.
If not clear, I can find pics and post em.
