well after purchasing a 175 4390 1000CCA battery from westrac Newcastle on the 4may 2010..
she finally decided to die on the 29 nov 2013.
at a measly cost of 140 plus the 35 to freight it to erina..
I had warranty left on the battery.
of which the swap over cost would be about 97 gst included..

trouble was ive got to get it to tomago, just north of Newcastle..
tnt freight quote of 75 to deliver old battery from Kariong.. which is about a 1hr from newy..
as to have the warranty covered.. they have to have the old battery..

was a no brainer really..
just not worth the cost of chasing the last bit of warranty..
even driving up and back would have cost me 75, plus the crap traffic, lost time..

quoted a few batteries.
century offer a 912 and a 950
the 950 goes for around 279 with a one year warranty.. too much for such poor warranty but its a commercial range of battery.
912 has 2 years and goes for 219

they had a amaron rated at 720, but it commonly bench tests around the 820..
that has 2 years warranty goes for 239

one other I was pretty keen on was a braile
American battery.
5year warranty 1100CCA but it really pulls more.
priced 370.

I can pretty well get 2 CAT batteries delivered for the braile price.
and quite a lot cheaper than any other battery on the market.

if only I had a dealer just down the road, to get the warranty, but you only get the last bit of warranty on the old battery, for the 90buck cost.
might as well go the new one and get the full warranty.

just done cape York in the last 3/4months and to get 3.5 years out of a battery is pretty damn good.
considering the cape roads i encountered...
pretty cheap, but knowing about the pro rate warranty now, I wont be chasing it unless the dealer is just down the road, which if I was home..
that would be the case.

definitely go another cat battery.
priced well.
plenty of cranking power.
got some decent life out of it.
and back for buck, its the leader in the field.

durability, not too fussed, 3.5 years for 175 is pretty good..
great value for money.
lots of stuff drawing power off it.

If it failed a year earlier id definately take your offer up..
but thanks..

Fair enough, I was thinking take it to them at tomago and save all freight, not a possibility?

Good to hear. I've been thinking about getting one (or two) for a while now. Will need to happen before Christmas as I'm off to Tassie.

Amp hours are quite low for a big battery 90amp hour rating.

but I still love turning the key with that much grunt from the battery.

battery after 12mnths losses that big kick.. but its still plenty to start it easily on a COLD morning...

150 PLUS GST now.
still.... got it delivered for under 190 bucks
Tomago to sommersby

230-6368 in my patrol, replaced one recently, but cannot fault the product, would recommend these to everyone who wants to abuse a cheap battery.
Have heard of some people having dramas but I do not know how or why.
biggest thing to watch out for is DO NOT over tighten the clamp across the top, as you damage the cell.

Cheers, Andy
