Dear all,

My name is Paul and I drive this beautiful 1993 NH(i dont knwo for sure) SWB Mit Montero 2.6ltr 4 cycl. I live on a small island close to venezuala known as Curacao. We have some car regulations here but not alot. When I was younger I always disanced myself from "car" culture and couldnt care less about them. However, ever since I own one I can't stop driving it around, revving the engine and as a daily exersize to work drive a little on a dirtroad. I however know NOTHING about cars, so I am trying my utmost to teach myself.

I have had some problems with the car and its carby. I replaced the orginal with a 32/36 weber carb and have had a lot better mileage knpw. I got the idea from RPW racing australia. I do about 300 km's with a tank of 50 ltrs whereas before it was about 240. Recently i found in this site i should check my o2 sensor as well. I am going to do this as soon as i get my books from haynes.

I have been looking to further improve my car after seeing all the amazing stuff out there. So far i have set my mind on the following and would like some critique on my choices.

First off i am going to replace my front bushings since they are practically gone. I think about replacing all (front and back) bushings with the SUPERPRO kind. Is this a wise choice?

Next I bought a magna TR cyclinder head in australia with roller rocker and hydraulic lifters which should fit on my current engine (according to RPW AU). Can anyone give me some tips about the proces of fitting? I am also thinking of buying new valves and valvesprings as well as an stabiliser elimantion kit (?). I will also buy new headbolts since this was recommended for this setup. (I thought about the entire EFI setup, even knowing this would be better concerning the HP/PS but i have my hands ful understanding the mechanical stuff let alone the electrical part.

Next would be adding a different extractor and reduce the amount of catalysators as allowed by the local law.

Finally i would like to add another weber carb with a twin manifold, but thats something for later.

Last i was thinking, is it worht the trouble or should i go and hunt down a different (bigger) engine and overhaul this. For example would a 4g75 3,8l v6 or would the 4g74 3,5 L v6 fit. I would also "settle" for 3,0L v6 ( dont know which one i should pick then).

hope you guys can help me and please ELI5 (Educated me Like I am 5 years old :))

You may have trouble fitting a Magna head to the Pajero engine. The Magna had a pulley driving the water pump at the clutch end of the engine. There will be a pulley exposed out the end of the rocker cover. You may be able to swap the cal over and used the Pajero rocker cover, but then you don't get roller rockers etc. Another way may be to cut the pulley off? The Magna engine is mounted east-west whereas the Pajero engine is North-South. I cannot think of any major problem in fitting a Magna head (other than the water pump pulley), but it is a risk.

I would not recommend going to the EFI setup, because you would need a full wiring loom and all the sensors to go with it. Big job. Nor would I recommend using a V6 engine because the transmissionin the early Pajeros was not very good and teh extra power would probably kill it.
