G'day all,
Do the pics look right or not to you?
http://www.gulfcoastrovers.com/rovers/a ... /index.htm
I'd have thought that with 35 12.50 tyres, and an 8" rim with 4.25 backspacing, the tyres would stick out further than this.
Any thoughts?
Regards

Gday Max,
That looks right. Those tyres are radials though. The Bias plys seem to have a broader tread face though that may produce the illusion that they're wider in relation to the flare.

Hi...
We have a 110 with 12.50s on & 8" rims with the 4" or so backspace..
Thats about how much they stick out too.......& you would'nt beleive where they can spray road shit even at low speeds...never mind off road & high speeds...!!
I would'nt personally go for greater offset (less backspace) on a coil L/R:
they seem to caster like the tie rods bent even with narrow wheels & when a bit of bush softening gets factored in......I can't get back to the
'safety' of a 'leafer fast enough.....!!
Some guys here run 12.50's on 10" rims....they stick out for miles & seem to have evil characteristics....not just 'cos the sidewalls are out of
intended stretch....but the kingpin leverage is atrocious..!
We are moving to 285x16s (31" tall) on L/R F/C 6.5 rims in effort to get som better results...& keep the crap under the arches...!

Nick, Have you had King/swivel pin or swivel ball failures on 110's with the offset rims? Offset rims on a series landy put the trackrod in tension, so they tend not to bend , but 110's and rangys put the trackrod in compression, so if it is not perfectly straight to begin with, the extra side loadings from offset wheels can bend it very easily. But surely a sleeved trackrod or Maxidrive one would solve that problem ?

...Funny you should ask that Bill..!
Due to stockwork pressures (& as this 110" is my father's main rig) I gave it to a cousin who runs a workshop to tidy up for me before they returned from holiday (this was last Friday).
I collected it today to go to the airport....one swivel ball, one king pin & a trackrod end later, ...the damn thing is actually decent to drive again..!
But I'm suspicious about these tyres true value for money....when I got them for him, they were sold as 6-plys, & they have it on sidewall...
When you search around the bead further...it says 4-ply tread, 2ply sides....!!
Buyer beware..??
