at very short notice after the 1fzfe shat itself in my daily 80 series, I'm going the LS1 upgrade.

after a fair amount of research I've decided its more hassle then its worth to keep the toyota auto with communication issues to the LS.
I'm thinking about running either a 4L65e or the 4L80e?
this is not my play hard car, but it does a lot of towing and touring. I've taken this into consideration.

any insights, recommendations or pros and cons would be great.

cheers

4l60e has a lower first gear, is easy to get and is easy to get parts for to make it stronger. 4l80e is obviously stronger out of the box though has a taller first and second gear, they're more expensive and harder to find.

I've build two 4l60e's (get the ATSG manual) and they were both excellent boxes. No issues with either. I sold the first one in a Hilux.

As with all autos, get a big cooler too.
