1994 Lux - EFI worth the swap?

Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 1994 SAF luxxy petrol (22R) as a daily drive while I take my rolla off the road.
Its got bars front and rear, lift, longrange tank etc. So pushing a bit of extra weight around.
I knew it wasnt going to be great on fuel.... but I didnt realise how bad itd be
Annnnnyway, is EFI worth the swap for economy benefits?
From the little search I have done, people are saying 'do your research'. What traps are involved?
Does any one have a good link to a swap over build/thread (preferably listing everything needed, and process...)
Thanks in advance for your help crew
Edit- should also mention the motor is getting a little tired. Got blowby, but not chewing any water or oil.
Just to see if its worth spending money on.
